7 hours of sleep, small goals helped in qualifying UPSC CSE 2020: Jagriti Awasthi, second topper

Jagriti Awasthi, the second topper of UPSC Civil Services Examination (CSE) 2020, says sleeping and studying schedule is a must while revealing her secret mantra to crack the most prestigious examination of the country.

Maulana Azad, a 24-year-old from the National Institute of Technology (MANIT), emerged as the female topper of the BTech Civil Services Examination 2020, the results of which were declared by the Union Public Service Commission on September 24. Jagriti Awasthi is a resident of Fatehpur district of Uttar Pradesh.

Jagriti Awasthi said in a special conversation with News18 that sleep and study schedule played an important role in his success.

She says that before starting the preparation for the exam, one should note down the syllabus and the hours that he can devote to studies every day. “The number of hours you can dedicate to studies determines what your routine will be,” says Jagriti Awasthi.

She further adds that if one is preparing for CSE exam and also working or studying in college then he/she should set the timetable accordingly.

He further said that any person can complete the course in a year if he/she is 100% dedicated towards it. “Eight to nine hours of regular study a day is enough to complete the syllabus. If you are working then you should dedicate at least four to five hours a day,” said Jagruti Awasthi.

She also suggests that those who are working or college students should prepare for current affairs while traveling or during their short breaks.

Jagriti Awasthi further says that the timetable should be divided into three-hour slots. “When the exam date is near and the exam time is from 10 am to 1 pm, then you should spend maximum time in studies during this time. I am saying this because if you are in the habit of sleeping during these hours then during the exam you will feel lazy and fail to concentrate on your paper,” said the second topper of CSE 2020.

She further says that one should make their study schedule according to their comfort zone. “Make small goals and targets to complete your course,” she says.

Jagriti Awasthi further says that it is necessary to include at least seven to eight hours of sleep. “Everyone should always keep bedtime in their timetable. Seven hours of sleep every day played an important role in my success. Many people increase their sleep hours and can hardly sleep due to lack of proper rest for their brain. Only if you sleep well can you prepare better,” suggests Jagruti Awasthi.
