67th National Film Awards: Awards to 15 South Indian films today

The 67th National Film Awards ceremony will be held today at Vigyan Bhawan, New Delhi. Vice President M Venkaiah Naidu will distribute the prizes to all the winners in a ceremony beginning at 11 am today. The winners were announced on 22 March at the National Media Center in Delhi.

The 67th National Film Awards ceremony will be held to present awards to the winners of their films released in 2019. The event was scheduled to be held in May last year. However, it got delayed due to the Covid-19 pandemic restrictions.

The National Film Awards are India’s most prestigious film awards recognizing excellence in cinematic achievements.

Veteran actor Rajinikanth will be honored with the Dadasaheb Phalke Award, India’s highest film honour.

The Telugu-language action-drama Maharshi starring Mahesh Babu will receive two National Film Awards, including Best Popular Film, Best Entertainment and Best Choreography.

A total of 15 films from South India have won top honors in various popular categories including non-feature films. All of them will be rewarded today.

Directed by Priyadarshan and Mohanlal, Marakkar: Arabikadalinte Singham has won three awards – Best Feature Film, Special Effects (Siddharth Priyadarshan) and Costumes (Sujit Sudhakaran and V Sai).

South actor Dhanush has also received the National Award for Best Actor for his work in Asuran. The film also won the title of Best Tamil Film.

Young actor Naga Vishal won the Best Child Actor award for his work in KD Angira Karuppudurai. Oththa Seruppu Size 7 has won two awards, including the Special Jury Award and Best Audiography.

Composer D Imman will be honored with the Best Music Direction award for his score for superstar Ajith’s blockbuster film Viswasam.

Jersey has been awarded the Best Telugu Language Film.
