6,200 new Covid cases in Gujarat; 47% active cases in Ahmedabad | Ahmedabad News – Times of India

AHMEDABAD: Gujarat added 6,275 new Covid cases on Sunday, an increase of 10.5% as compared to the tally on Saturday. With the update, active cases rose to 27,913 – a rate of 3 cases per minute with 5,012 cases added in a day, the highest since the second wave.
Four major cities accounted for 80% of new cases. This was the second day in a row for the situation of zero mortality of Covid patients.
An analysis of the top five states with the highest number of active cases of Covid as of January 9 showed that Ahmedabad accounted for 47% of the total active cases in the state. The city came in fourth in terms of district-to-state active cases ratio – Bengaluru accounts for 83% of Karnataka’s active cases, followed by Mumbai with 60% of Maharashtra cases and Chennai to Tamil Nadu with 50.5%.
The state has not registered any new cases omicron variant in 24 hours, while there are 50 active cases of the variant in the state. A city-based critical care specialist said, “No patient has recorded serious complications. On average, patients have spent an average of 5 to 8 days in hospitalization before testing negative.”
