A child fell into a 300-feet deep borewell in Bairampur village of Gaddiwala area of Hoshiarpur district in Punjab. The incident happened when a dog fell behind this child playing in the fields. To escape from the dog, this six-year-old child climbed a two and a half feet high pipe of a borewell made in the fields while running and fell on his head.
According to eyewitnesses, the name of the child who fell in the borewell is Hrithik. He is trapped by going 100 feet down in this 300 feet deep borewell. Hrithik’s parents work in the fields. As soon as the information about the incident was received, apart from the social organizations, the district administration took charge. The army has reached the spot to rescue the child.
When the dog ran after Hrithik, he screamed and ran towards the borewell. People working in the nearby fields looked at Hrithik’s cry. People raised their voices to drive away the dog, but in front of their eyes, Hrithik fell on his head in the borewell. Seeing this, people raised an alarm. Immediately people working in the surrounding fields and villagers gathered.

On getting information about the matter, Hoshiarpur DC Sandeep Hans, DSP Gopal Singh, besides Aam Aadmi Party MLA Jasvir Singh Raja Gill from Udmur seat of Hoshiarpur district reached the spot. Rescue work was started by the administration. Contact is also being made with those who specialize in evacuating people trapped in borewells. It is being told that Hrithik is mentally deranged.
The sounds coming from the borewell stopped
Earlier, as soon as the information about the incident was received, social organizations reached the spot immediately ordered oxygen cylinders and released oxygen gas inside the borewell so that the child would not have trouble breathing. People present on the spot told that for some time after the incident, Hrithik’s voice kept coming from the borewell. He was crying out for help. After some time the sound stopped coming.

Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann tweeted soon after getting information about the incident. He wrote that a 6-year-old child has fallen in a borewell in Hoshiarpur.
