In a horrific accident in Andhra Pradesh last night, five people, including a woman, died after pulling a chain and falling down from another train that was stopped. One person was seriously injured and is now undergoing treatment at a local hospital.

According to officials, the five were passengers of the Secunderabad-Guwahati Superfast Express, which had halted midway at a village in Srikakulam district. They got off the train and were on the next railway track when the Bhubaneswar bound Konark Express coming from the opposite direction came over them.

The injured person has been admitted to a hospital in Srikakulam. Investigators are waiting to record his statement as to why he stopped the train and got off.

Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy expressed grief over the accident. He directed the district authorities to provide relief and ensure proper medical facilities to the injured.
