5 kids seek police help to crash their dad’s wedding | Lucknow News – Times of India

LUCKNOW: It was a case of ‘third time unlucky’ for a fruit seller from Sitapur. His minor children, cops in tow, barged into his wedding ceremony to stop it on Wednesday evening. Shafi Ahmad, 52, was getting married for third time.
Initially, his five children tried to convince their father to call off his plans of a third marriage but when Shafi refused to budge, they sought police intervention.
Police said the main objection of the complainants was that the children from their father’s third marriage would seek their share in his land and property, which they were not willing to part with.
Narrating the sequence of events, SHO, Kotwali, Tej Pratap Singh said that around 11.30pm on Wednesday an SOS was received at U. “The cops informed our police station that a man was going to marry and his five minor children have lodged a complaint. The local pradhan too said that there was a commotion,” he said.
“A police team, accompanied by the Ahmad’s children, reached the spot and found that he was going to marry another woman based in Patiya locality in Sardar Colony of Kotwali dehat police station area,” said the SHO.
Ahmad’s children also thrashed him, and his first wife Taranum Praveen, 48, alleged that he was marrying another woman, said Singh.
He said that based on the complaint of the first wife, Ahmad was challaned for breach of peace and let off.
In the video, Elaha identified herself as a medical student at Kabul University and the daughter of an intelligence service general under the former government. She said Khosti had forced her into marriage six months ago, when he still held the post. Khosti tried to marry her sister to another Taliban official, but her family successfully fled, she said. “Khosti beat me a lot. Every night he raped me,” she said. She heard a Taliban member telling Khosti that she had lived under the former government for 20 years and should be stoned to death.
In tweets on Wednesday, Khosti confirmed that he had married Elaha, but he denied mistreating her. “I assure you that I have not done anything illegal,” he wrote. Khosti said he divorced her after finding she “has a problem in her faith” and he accused her of insulting the Quran. AP
