Mahavikas Aghadi candidate Ravindra Hemraj Dhangekar of Congress collected the victory certificate after winning the Kasba Peth assembly by-election.

The results of the by-elections held in five states were declared on Thursday. Congress’s Ravindra Dhangekar has won the Kasbapeth seat in Maharashtra. This seat was held by the BJP since 1995. BJP’s Ashwini Jagtap has won the Chinchwad seat.

On the other hand, the account of Congress has been opened in Bengal. Baron Biswas has won the Sagardighi seat. In the elections held in 2021, the Congress could not get a single seat here.

Congress’s EVKS Elangovan has also won in Tamil Nadu. BJP’s Tsering Lhamu has been elected unopposed as MLA in Arunachal Pradesh. AJSU’s Sunita Chowdhary has won the Ramgarh seat in Jharkhand. He also had the support of the BJP.

Voting was held on February 26 in Chinchwad, Kasbapeth seats in Maharashtra. The elections to these seats were necessitated by the death of BJP MLAs Mukta Tilak (Kasba Peth) and Laxman Jagtap (Chinchwad). In Kasbapeth, Ravindra Dhangekar of INC has won by a margin of 10915 votes. The BJP has been in power here since 1995. This time here Hemant Narayan Rasane contested on behalf of BJP. He got a total of 62,244 votes.

The Sagardighi seat in West Bengal fell vacant after the death of three-time TMC MLA Subrata Saha in December 2022. There was a contest between TMC’s Debasish Banerjee, BJP’s Dilip Saha and opposition-backed Congress’s Baron Biswas. Baron Biswas has won by 22986 votes. In 2021, Congress did not win a single seat in Bengal. That’s why the victory on the Sagardighi seat is being considered as the return of the Congress.
