47-day Magh Mela starts from January 14, ‘Meladhikari’ appointed. Allahabad News – Times of India

Prayagraj: With a ‘Divya’ (Divine Talent) and ‘Bhavya’ (Magnificent) Magh Mela scheduled to be held in January 2022, the Mela authorities have intensified preparations to set up a tent city on the banks of river Ganga.
The 47-day Magh Mela will start from January 14 and will end on March 1 on the day of Mahashivratri. There will be six main days of bathing – Makar Sankranti (January 14/15), Paush Purnima (January 17), Mauni Amavasya (February 1), Basant Panchami (February 5), Maghi Purnima (February 16) and Mahashivratri (March 1). .
The state government has approved a massive budget of Rs 59 crore and appointed senior IAS officer Sheshmani Pandey as Meladhikari (Fair Officer). Seven pontoon bridges will be constructed by dividing the Magh Mela area into six sectors. Apart from this, ‘shivars’ (camps) and tents of saints and saints at Acharya Wada, Dandi Wada, Khak Chowk, Kalpvasi Nagar, Prayagwal Sabha and Kinnar Akhara will be the main attraction next year.
Mela officials have initially started the leveling work on the banks of the Ganges, where thousands of tents will be set up. The land allotment work for various religious, social and cultural organizations is likely to be done in the third week of December.
Officials of various government departments including Police, Health, Jal Nigam, Prayagraj Municipal Corporation, Electricity, PWD and Irrigation have been directed to complete their respective projects as time has been given to them. The work on the Pontoon Bridge has started. This time there will be a total of seven pontoon bridges on the Ganges for the smooth passage of the pilgrims.
The officials are taking stock of the situation in the Mela premises and planning to tackle the problem of soil erosion due to strong currents of river water. The newly appointed Magh Meladhikari said, “Elaborate arrangements will be made for the Magh Mela. Adequate facilities will be provided to the pilgrims and devotees visiting the fair for hassle free travel and stay. The BMAgh Mela 2022 will also see a 30-day ‘Kalpavas’ period, starting from January 17 (Paush Purnima) and ending on Maghi Purnima. (February 16).
