maharashtra covid-19 updateAccording to an official statement of the MCGM, 20,318 new cases of Kovid-19 were reported in Mumbai on Saturday and five people died. The number of active cases in the country’s financial capital was recorded at 1,06,037.

Meanwhile, Maharashtra on Saturday recorded 41,434 new coronavirus cases, a new high and 13 deaths, health officials said. With this, the number of infections in the state increased to 68,75,656 and the death toll rose to 1,41,627. Maharashtra currently has 1,73,238 active cases.

The state government announced new restrictions, including a ban on movement in groups of five or more, in public places during the daytime from January 10 midnight. 1,95,844 coronavirus tests were conducted on Saturday, taking the total samples tested to 7,03,42,173. After full recovery, 9,671 patients were discharged from hospitals, taking the number of recoveries to 65,57,081.

The recovery rate in the state is 95.37 percent and the death rate is 2.05 percent. State capital Mumbai reported 20,318 cases and five deaths. 33,134 new cases and six deaths were reported in the large division of Mumbai. In Nashik division, 1,392 new cases were reported including 846 in Nashik city.

Apart from the infection cases, 20,971 new Covid-19 cases were reported in the Maharashtra capital on Friday, amid rising omicron cases in the state. In the last 24 hours, 6 people succumbed to the infection. Today’s cases are slightly higher than yesterday when 20,181 cases were reported in the city.
