New Delhi: Four more cases of the Omicron variant were reported in the national capital on Thursday.
With the detection of these fresh cases, the number of omicrons in the city rose to 10.
Delhi Health Minister Satyendar Jain said, “There are 10 cases of Omicron variant in Delhi so far.”
Jain said that out of 10 cases, one has been discharged and nine are still admitted in LNJP hospital.
“None of them are serious cases,” said the health minister.
The minister said that on arrival at the Indira Gandhi International Airport, several international passengers have tested positive for COVID-19.
Jain had said on Tuesday that the Omicron variant of the corona virus has not yet spread in the community and the situation is under control.
He said that the condition of the Omicron positive patients is stable.
Delhi’s first patient of the Omicron variant – a 37-year-old man from Ranchi – was discharged on Monday after testing negative for Covid-19 twice, officials said.
He had traveled from Tanzania to Doha and from there to Delhi on a Qatar Airways flight on December 2. He stayed in Johannesburg, South Africa for a week and had mild symptoms.
Under the new norms, RT-PCR tests are mandatory for passengers coming from ‘at-risk’ countries and are allowed to leave the airport only after the results are out.
Along with this, two percent of the passengers coming by flight from other countries are being randomly tested.
