Chittagong (Bangladesh): Rehmanullah Gurbaazi And Rashid Khan acted as the defeat of Afghanistan Bangladesh To avoid seven wickets in the third One Day International, a Washing in the three-match series on Monday
Gurbaz smashed an unbeaten 106 off 110 balls to trample Afghanistan to 193-3 in 40.1 overs as Rashid’s 3-37 helped bundle out Bangladesh for 192 in 46.5 overs at the Zahoor Ahmed Chowdhury Stadium.
Afghanistan captain Hashmatullah Shahidi said in Chittagong, “I am proud of the way the team took the field today.”
Gurbaz and Riyaz Hasan shared a 79-run partnership in the first stand. Shakib Al Hasan dismissed Riaz for 35 but Gurbaz never allowed the Bangladeshi bowlers to build up the pace.
He hit seven fours and four sixes and added exactly 100 runs for the second wicket with Rahmat Shah to take Afghanistan closer.
Mehdi Hasan stumped Rahmat for 47 to break the stand and trapped Shahidi leg in the next two overs, but they came too late, Afghanistan just a few runs away from victory.
This was Gurbaz’s third century in just nine ODIs off 103 balls.
Player of the match Gurbaz said, “I had some injuries in the last game but I was completely fine today. We lost the series, but it was a strong comeback.”
Earlier, opener Liton Das scored 86 for Bangladesh after captain Tamim Iqbal won the toss and elected to bat.
Fazlhaq Farooqui bowled captain Tamim Iqbal for 11 and shared a 43-run partnership with Shakib Ali Hasan and Liton adding 61 runs for the second wicket.
Shakib pulled one off Azmatullah Omerzai to his stumps and was dismissed for 30 before Rashid dismissed the home team in successive overs with the wickets of Mushfiqur Rahim (seven) and Yasir Ali (one).
Mohammad Nabi, who also claimed 2-29, ended Liton’s innings as Gulbadin Naib took a fine catch at long-on.
In-form Liton’s fourth ODI half-century – seven fours in an innings of 113 balls – came after scoring a century in the previous match.
Bangladesh captain Tamim Iqbal said, “We played well in the middle, but lost momentum in the end.”
Bangladesh won the first two matches of the series by four wickets and 88 runs respectively.
The visitors will now play two Twenty20 International against Bangladesh at the Sher-e-Bangla National Stadium in Dhaka on March 3 and 5.
