350 new Covid-19 cases reported in Mumbai, highest daily count since February 11; Active tally at 1,658

Mumbai recorded 350 new on Thursday coronavirus The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) said positive cases, its highest single-day count since February 11 this year, though no one died due to the infection during the day. This is the 10th consecutive day that the city has witnessed over 150 COVID-19 cases. Barring four days, the city has recorded three-digit daily infection cases so far this month.

Further, the number of infections in Mumbai rose to 10,63,921, but the death toll remained unchanged at 19,566, the civic body said in its bulletin. The city reported 350 daily cases for the first time since February 11, when it reported 367 cases and one death. The country’s financial capital reported 55 more cases on Thursday compared to Wednesday, when there were 295 cases and zero fatality rate. The bulletin said that out of 350 new cases, 16 patients are symptomatic and hospitalized and two of them are on oxygen support. At present, there are 1,658 active COVID-19 cases in Mumbai.

Its recovery rate is 98 percent and the number of patients who have been cured reached 10,42,697 in the last 24 hours, out of which 223 were discharged. However, the civic body said that out of 24,487 beds in the city, only 64 beds are occupied and the percentage of beds as compared to the total beds available is 0.26 per cent.

The case doubling rate further reduced to 3,691 days and the overall growth rate of COVID-19 cases has reached 0.019 per cent for the period 19 to 25 May. The metropolis’s total testing count reached 1,70,97,300 as 8,959 tests were conducted. Held in the last 24 hours. Currently no building is sealed and there is no containment zone to control the spread of the virus.

On January 7 this year, the highest ever number of 20,971 cases were reported in Mumbai.
