300 Sedative Pills Seized, 3 Arrested | Coimbatore News – Times of India

Coimbatore: Police arrested three men and seized 300 sedative pills from them during a vehicle check near Puthupalayam at Periyanaickenpalayam on Sunday.
The Periyanaickenpalayam police also seized syringes, 525g of ganja, three mobile phones and a motorcycle from Azar, 24, of Kanuvai, Sahaya Vijay, 26, of Edayarpalayam, and Gokul, 24, of Vadavalli.
“The trio had brought the pills from Pune after buying them from a peddler there. They had bought one strip (10 numbers) of tablets for Rs 1,200 and planned to sell one tablet for Rs 500 to college students in the district,” Periyanaickenpalayam police inspector Dhamodaran said.
Meanwhile, the city police launched a drive against illegal sale of sedative pills. The city police have seized 9,822 pills from January 2021 to July 24, 2022 and arrested 16 people. Police said drug peddlers procure the medicines from Andhra Pradesh and sell it in Coimbatore for up to Rs 500 per pill. City police commissioner V Balakrishnan said that a special team has been working to secure the drug seller in Andhra Pradesh.
