Russia-Ukraine WarThree people were killed in the latest Russian rocket attack on the western Ukrainian city of Lviv on Thursday, while eight others were injured and several were trapped under debris, according to the local mayor.

Lviv Mayor Andrey Sadovy said on his Telegram handle that one person was seriously injured after the rocket attack, while more than 60 buildings were damaged and about 50 cars were destroyed. He called the attack the ‘biggest assault’ on Lviv’s civilian infrastructure since the Russian invasion.

The mayor also said that emergency teams have been dispatched to clear the debris and pull people out of the rubble.

Meanwhile, the head of the Lviv regional state administration, Maksim Kozitsky, said that a “vital infrastructure facility” was hit during the attack and that Russia’s goal was primarily “the extermination of the Ukrainian people”, the BBC reported.

Earlier, a Russian missile attack on a residential building in Ukraine’s Kharkiv area on Tuesday injured 43 people, including 12 children, according to local officials. The injured included a one-year-old child and a 10-month-old infant.

Russian missiles also struck a pizza restaurant in the Ukrainian city of Kramatorsk last week, killing 11 people, including four children. 56 people were injured in the attack.

Following the attack in Kramatorsk, Zelensky said it was a “manifestation of terror” and said a tribunal should be established for alleged crimes in the upcoming Russian–Ukrainian war.
