Delhi recorded 2,716 fresh Covid-19 cases on Saturday, which is 51% more than yesterday. The positivity rate rose to 3.64% in the national capital. An official bulletin issued by the health department said. The total number of active cases now stands at 6,360.

On New Year’s Day, the national capital also recorded one Covid-related death. According to the CoWIN portal, more than 2.64 crore doses have been given in Delhi till Saturday evening, which includes 1.52 crore first doses and 1.11 crore second doses.

Meanwhile, registration for immunization of children in the 15-18 age group in Delhi began on Saturday as centers here gear up to start immunization of the young population from January 3. According to official documents shared by sources, the group size of vaccinations in this category is 10 lakh as per the data of Registrar General of India.

Union Health Minister Mansukh Mandaviya took to Twitter to request people to register eligible children in their families.

Officials from various hospitals in Delhi, which are among the facilities hosting immunization centers since the exercise began on January 16, said the infrastructure is ready to provide COVID vaccine shots to children, covering the adult population. This includes healthcare workers and frontline workers who were given priority in getting jobs first in line.

A large number of schools and other educational institutions have been used as COVID vaccination centers and arrangements are being made there as well.
