A collapsed lung condition is known as pneumothorax, which occurs when air leaks into the space between the lung and the chest wall, causing shortness of breath that can even be fatal.

Chen Baojun, chief of thoracic surgery at the hospital, said the man was already suffering from a spontaneous pneumothorax because of his tall and lean frame. According to the report, health officials also cited wearing a mask as one of the reasons for the man’s lung burst.
