India’s largest carmaker Maruti Suzuki is all set to launch the Nexa Jimny 5-door SUV, which was unveiled globally at the Auto Expo 2023. The off-road vehicle will come in a 5-door configuration, unlike its younger sibling, which is available globally in a 3-door setup. The SUV has created a lot of headlines ahead of its launch and has already crossed 30,000 bookings since Maruti opened pre-bookings in January, post the unveiling. In fact, the waiting period on the 2023 Maruti Suzuki Jimny 5-Door is currently around 6 months. Now, the fuel efficiency of the Jimny has been revealed at the SUV’s media drive.
2023 Maruti Suzuki Jimny: Fuel efficiency
According to a report in Autocar, the Maruti Suzuki Jimny will return a mileage of 16.94 kmpl in the manual trim, while the fuel efficiency of the Maruti Suzuki Jimny in the automatic trim is 16.39 kmpl. Interestingly, there is not much difference in the fuel efficiency of the SUV with MT or AT gearbox options.
2023 Maruti Suzuki Jimny: Engine
As revealed earlier, the Maruti Suzuki Jimny will get both 5-speed MT and 4-speed AT gearbox options. However, there is only a 1.5-litre 4-cylinder petrol engine option that produces 104.8 PS of peak power output and 134.2 Nm of peak torque. Also, the Jimny’s off-road characteristics are very strong as it gets a standard AWD system in the form of Suzuki AllGrip technology.
2023 Maruti Suzuki Jimny: Price
Prices for the 2023 Maruti Suzuki Jimny 5-door are likely to start from Rs 10 lakh (ex-showroom), going up to Rs 13 lakh (ex-showroom). 5 variants are expected to be launched for the Nexa Jimny.

The Maruti Suzuki Jimny is compact in size, and measures 3,985 mm long, 1,645 mm wide and 1,720 mm tall. The wheelbase is 2,590 mm long and it has a ground clearance of 210 mm. Boot space on the Jimny is 208 litres, but its square shape means it can easily swallow a few suitcases. Also, the Jimny is a light-footed vehicle, tipping the scales at just 1,200 kg.

The 2023 Maruti Suzuki Jimny 5-door gets a boxy design, with a largely straight body language. The only thing rounded outside are the headlamps and the wheels. Overall, the design looks attractive, and there will be multiple color options as well.

On the inside, the Jimny remains identical to the 3-door model till the first row, except for the larger 9-inch touchscreen infotainment unit. There’s ample room for two adults around the second row. Plus, there’s practical boot space. The Jimny gets 6 airbags as standard, along with a host of other functions, such as headlamp washers, hill descent control, hill hold assist, wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay and more.
