20 kg ‘ICE’ drug seized in Punjab, two arrested

With the Punjab government led by Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann cracking down on the drug mafia, the State Police’s Special Task Force (STF) recovered 20.80 kg of amphetamine or crystal meth, known as ICE, from two drug smugglers in Ludhiana. arrested after police said on Tuesday.

Inspector General of Police Gurinder Singh Dhillon said that the STF teams of Ludhiana under the leadership of AIG Snehdeep Sharma carried out this operation.

The arrested people have been identified as Harpreet Singh alias Bobby (40) and Arjun (26) of Ludhiana, who are taxi drivers. Police have identified the main supplier as Vishal alias Vinay, a resident of Ludhiana.

IGP Dhillon said that following a tip-off that Harpreet and Arjun would be supplying ICE on their motorcycles to BRS Nagar in Ludhiana, a police team led by Harbans Singh raided the location and managed to nab both the smugglers. The ICE was hidden in a bag.

He said during investigation the accused have confessed to selling ICE drugs for more than four years on the instructions of Vishal, who is considered to be the kingpin.

Vinay, who is otherwise working as a realtor, is Arjun’s half-brother and used to supply ICE through Arjun and Harpreet.

The IGP said that after the confession of both the accused, the police team has also recovered 18.80 kg ICE from Vishal’s house.

Sharma said that the police is conducting raids to arrest the absconding accused Vishal.
