20 injured as Bengal going bus falls into a gorge in Dhanbad Ranchi News – Times of India

Sindri: 20 pilgrims were slightly injured when a West Bengal-bound bus fell into a roadside gorge on GT Road. See in more Dhanbad District on Friday.
The bus was carrying 68 pilgrims West Bengal after their visit Ayodhya, Vrindavan and Varanasi in Uttar Pradesh. The incident happened around 2 pm on Friday.
When some people asked for donations for Durga Puja, the bus driver stopped the vehicle. However, the bus came to a halt on the slope and started rolling and fell into a 10 feet deep gorge on the side of the road. Most of the passengers were in deep sleep at the time of the incident.
As soon as the passengers raised an alarm and started calling for help, a police patrol team reached the spot and pulled everyone out. “Twenty passengers who sustained minor injuries were sent to Dhanbad Medical College from where they were released after first aid. Govindpur police made arrangements to return to Nadia by other buses,” said Govindpur station in-charge Umesh Prasad Singh.
Sub-divisional police officer Amar Kumar Pandey said: “Strict action will be initiated against people stopping vehicles on GT Road for worship donations.”
