The Bengal unit of the Bharatiya Janata Party claimed that their MP Locket Chatterjee’s “dignity was ruthlessly assaulted” by a TMC legislator. The party said that MLA Asit Majumdar “shamelessly” hurled the derogatory term “2 number maal” at her “in full public view”.
“This despicable incident lays bare the deep-seated misogyny within TMC’s ranks. Sandeshkhali serves as a stark reflection of the grim reality faced by women under TMC’s oppressive regime. Bengal deserves leaders who uphold the dignity of women, not ones who stoop to such appalling levels,” the party added.

The derogatory remark has come on a day when the Congress is already facing the heat over MP Randeep Surjewala‘s ‘vile sexist comment’ against actor-politician Hema Malini.
BJP IT cell head Amit Malviya took to X and said, “Congress MP Randeep Surjewala makes a vile sexist comment, that is demeaning and derogatory, not just for Hema Malini, who is an accomplished individual, but women in general.
“He asks, “MLA/MP kyun banate hain? Taaki vo humari awaaz utha sake, humare baat manvaye, isliye banate honge. Koi Hema Malini toh nahi, jo chatne ke liye banate hai?” [“Why make MLA/MP? So that they can raise our voice, get our views accepted, that is why they must be making it. It is no Hema Malini, who’s made to lick?”], Malviya’s post read.
The BJP leader said that this “Rahul Gandhi’s Congress is misogynistic and abhors women”.
Locket Chatterjee’s Attacks on TMC Over Sandeshkhali
The BJP has earlier attacked the TMC over the Sandeshkhali issue and alleged that “TMC-linked goons” were hunting down Hindu women and sexually assaulting them.
During a press conference, BJP MP Locket Chatterjee had stated that houses of women who had been accused of sexual assault by local TMC leaders were being robbed after giving news interviews.
Banerjee’s party has nominated the host of popular TV game show ‘Didi No. 1’ and actor Rachana Banerjee to contest against Chatterjee in Hooghly.
