Bhavnagar: Two members of the same family were killed and one person was injured when lightning struck Moti Jagdhar village in Gujarat’s Bhavnagar district on Sunday amid rain and thunderstorm. Bhupathi Mavji (25) and his nephew Ravi (10) died of lightning in the afternoon when they were returning from jobs under MGNREGA scheme in Moti Jagdhar village, an official of Mahuva police station said. “A woman seriously injured in the incident has been admitted to a hospital in Mahuva for treatment,” he said.
According to the State Emergency Operation Center, 57 taluks in Gujarat recorded some rain, while Mahuva in Bhavnagar received 15 mm of rain between 10 am and 12 noon on Sunday.
The Meteorological Department has predicted light to moderate rain with isolated heavy rains at isolated places in many districts of the state in the next five days.
