Guwahati: Police on Sunday seized nearly 1 kg heroin smuggled from Dimpaur in Nagaland and worth Rs 8 crore in Assam’s Karbi Anglong district and arrested two persons in this connection.
The accused have been identified by the police as Solomon Thuwer and Simon Thuwer. Both hail from Nagaland. They were travelling in a private vehicle from Dimapur to Karbi Anglong when it was intercepted by a joint team of police and the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) at Chariali area.
John Das, sub-divisional police officer, Bokajan, said: “Acting on specific information, we have intercepted the vehicle. Upon conducting a search, we have recovered 75 soap cases filled with heroin from the vehicle.” TNN
