2.82 lakh new covid cases in India, positivity increased from 14.43% to 15.13%

In the last 24 hours, more than 2.82 lakh new Kovid cases were reported in India, which is 18 percent more than the number of cases yesterday.

  1. The positivity rate, which is an indicator of the spread of the infection, has increased marginally from 14.43 per cent to 15.13 per cent.

  2. The country has so far reported 8,961 cases of the fast-spreading Omicron variant, which is driving the third wave of the pandemic. Omicron’s numbers are up 0.79 percent since yesterday.

  3. In the last 24 hours, a total of 441 deaths were reported due to the infection, which is much higher than yesterday’s number of 310.

  4. The health ministry in its bulletin said that the country’s active caseload currently stands at 18.31 lakh.

  5. In the last 24 hours, more than 1.88 lakh patients have been cured of Kovid and the recovery rate of the country is now 93.88 percent.

  6. A total of 70.74 crore samples have been tested so far. Over 18.69 lakh tests were conducted in the last 24 hours – 2 lakh more than yesterday.

  7. Over 158 crore doses of vaccines have been administered as part of the nationwide campaign as the government works hard to expand coverage amid a third wave of infections.

  8. A week after listing the situations in which testing is not required, the government yesterday said testing numbers were falling and that states needed to accelerate.

  9. India has reported more than 1.7 million new cases in the past week, but the hospitalization rate so far has been much lower than in the second wave that pushed the health system to the brink of collapse.

  10. With the third wave increasing the number of daily cases in major cities, governments have been forced to impose restrictions on public movement that were eased after the second wave.
