18-year-old Jonathan Kapitolnik wins gold in high-jump championship

18-year-old Israeli athlete Jonathan Kapitolnik has won the Under-20 World Championships high jump event.

The competition held in Kenya saw him jump to a height of 2.19m in his first attempt to secure his place as the gold medalist.

This is the second time an Israeli has won a medal at the World Championships in the under-20 category. In 2006, high jumper Nikki Palli won the silver medal from Beijing.
