Before the 2024 Lok Sabha elections, the ruling party and the opposition have started the exercise to strengthen their family.

On July 18, the BJP has called a meeting of its NDA allies. On the other hand, the opposition parties are also going to hold a meeting in Bengaluru on the same day.

The NDA meeting will be held at Ashoka Hotel in Delhi from 5 pm on July 18. Prime Minister Narendra Modi will preside over this meeting.

The BJP has also started preparations for this. Party President JP Nadda has started sending invitations to all the parties involved in the NDA.

Nadda has also written letters to those parties, which had parted ways with the NDA on various issues in the last few years.

Chirag Paswan and Jitan Ram Manjhi were invited by writing a letter
On Saturday, Nadda wrote a letter to Lok Janshakti Party (Ram Vilas) chief and MP Chirag Paswan from Bihar inviting him to attend the NDA meeting. Apart from this, former Chief Minister of Bihar and chief of Hindustani Awam Morcha (HAM) Jitan Ram Manjhi has also been called.

On Nadda’s invitation, Chirag Paswan said- We have supported BJP on various issues from time to time, but the final decision on whether to go to the NDA meeting or not will be taken after meeting with the party leaders.

Possibility of calling Akali and TDP as well
According to sources, there is talk of calling Akali Dal Badal from Punjab and former Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh Chandrababu Naidu in the NDA meeting. However, no official information has been revealed about it so far.

Apart from this, Upendra Kushwaha from Bihar and VIP party chief Mukesh Sahni are also likely to be called in the meeting. At the same time, there is speculation that Subhaspa’s OP Rajbhar will also be called from Uttar Pradesh.

Shinde and Ajit Pawar will come for the first time
Eknath Shinde and Ajit Pawar will attend the NDA meeting from Maharashtra for the first time. Last year, Eknath Shinde rebelled against Uddhav Thackeray and formed the government with the BJP. He is also the CM of the state.

Apart from this, in the same month there was rebellion in NCP and Sharad Pawar’s nephew Ajit Pawar broke away from the party and joined the government with BJP-Shiv Sena along with 8 other MLAs. Ajit Pawar is also the Finance Minister of the state.

Apart from this, some small parties from the northeastern states can also attend the NDA meeting. These include Pradotya Vikram Manik Dev Verma of Tipra Motha Party from Tripura.

What is the reason for calling the NDA meeting?

  • Chirag Paswan will join as the sole successor of father Ram Vilas. BJP will try to help 4.5% of Bihar’s Dusadhs and Paswans in the Lok Sabha elections through Chirag.
  • The BJP is hoping that with the joining of Jitan Ram Manjhi of the Hindustani Awam Morcha, the votes of the Mahadalits can come in their favor.
  • With the arrival of Vikassheel Insaan Party’s Mukesh Sahni, the votes of boatmen, fishermen and farmers can be in favor of BJP.
  • BJP is also in talks with former allies Telugu Desam Party and Shiromani Akali Dal. The thinking is that the expansion of the NDA should improve the image of the party.

Opposition unity meeting on July 17-18, 8 new parties joined
Opposition parties will hold a meeting in Bengaluru at the same time as the NDA meeting. As many as 25 parties are likely to attend the meeting to be held on July 17 and 18. On July 17, on the first day of the meeting, Sonia Gandhi has invited leaders of all parties, including the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), for dinner.
