17-year-old injured from an 85-foot jump – Henry’s Club

Spencer, ten. (WSMV) – A 17-year-old was seriously injured by jumping off Cane Creek Falls on Thursday.

Park Rangers, Pine Fire Department, Fall Creek Falls Fire Department, Dunlop Fire Department, and Van Buren County EMS responded to the scene at Fall Creek Falls State Park at 1:15 p.m.

Officials said that Cane Creek Falls is about 85 feet tall and reaching the bottom is a very difficult and challenging route. To retrieve the victim, personnel and spectators carried him from the base of the falls across the creek and down the steep climb down the cable trail.

Rescuers used rope rescue techniques to get the patient out. A high line was rigged, and the patient was placed in a basket and ropes were pulled up. After about two and a half hours of effort, the patient was taken out safely.

The identity of the patient and his condition status have not been released yet.
