15-year-old girl strangles mother with belt after quarrel over studies

A 15-year-old girl allegedly strangled her mother to death with a karate belt after a fight over studies in Navi Mumbai. The police gave this information on Tuesday. Later, the girl tried to call it a case of accidental death, he said. The incident took place on July 30 in Airoli area of ​​Navi Mumbai Basti. There were frequent fights between the girl and her 40-year-old mother as the woman wanted her daughter to pursue a medical course, but she later refused to do so. An official of the Rabale police station gave this information.

The girl had also complained about her mother to the police last month, following which the police had counseled the family members. On July 30, the girl informed the police that her mother had fallen and died, the officer said.

He said the body was sent for postmortem and the report revealed that the woman was strangled to death. During interrogation, the girl told the police that she had strangled her with a karate belt after a fight with her mother, the officer said. He said the teenager was detained on Monday and a case was registered under section 302 (murder) of the Indian Penal Code.
