Sambalpur: Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik while launching the distribution of Biju Swasthya Kalyan Yojana (BSKY) smart health cards in Kuchinda on Tuesday said that the state government has committed Rs 147 crore to provide immediate treatment cost to accident victims during the initial 48 hours. Expressing concern over the rising number of road accident deaths, Naveen said, “If immediate treatment is provided to the accident victims, many valuable lives can be saved. The victims can be saved within the first 48 hours of the accident. It is necessary to provide treatment. The cost of the first 48 hours of treatment of the accident victim will be borne from the fund.”
Speaking on BSKY, Naveen said that around 3.5 crore people from 96 lakh families would be benefitted with BSKY cards. “To meet health-related expenses, many people sell their land, gold and even stop the education of children. I get upset and shocked whenever I hear such incidents. Now People can avail free healthcare in 200 major hospitals across the country with the help of this card,” he said.
The Chief Minister also inaugurated and laid foundation stones of various projects worth Rs 1,553 crore. Health Minister Naba Kishore Das, Rural Development Minister Sushant Singh and Deputy Chief Whip Rohit Pujari were present during the program in Kuchinda.
