Maharashtra Covid Cases: Saturday became the third day in a row that Maharashtra reported over 1,000 cases. The state currently has 5,888 active cases. The state health department on Saturday reported 1,357 new coronavirus infections and one pandemic-related death.

The caseload in the state rose to 78,91,703, while the death toll rose to 1,47,865. 595 people were cured during the day, taking the number of cured patients to 77,37,950. The case recovery rate is 98.05 percent while the death rate is 1.87 percent.

Of the 1,357 cases reported on Saturday, Mumbai city alone recorded 889 cases. The only death was also reported from the state capital. Navi Mumbai Municipal Corporation reported 104 new cases, while Thane and Pune city added 91 and 68 cases respectively. 31,083 coronavirus tests were conducted since last evening, taking the number of samples tested so far to 8,10,35,276.

Speaking to reporters earlier in the day, Health Minister Rajesh Tope had said that masks have not been made mandatory in the state so far, but have been advised to use them, especially in enclosed spaces like auditoriums and schools/colleges. .
