105 new cases of dengue, viral fever have been reported in UP’s Firozabad

On Sunday, 105 patients of dengue and viral fever were admitted to the Government Medical College in Firozabad, UP, where 51 people have died due to the disease so far. No death was reported on Sunday. During this, an officer of the Gram Panchayat was suspended for negligence.

Dr Sangeeta Aneja, Principal, Medical College said, “Today 105 new patients of dengue and viral fever were admitted, while 60 people got cured. He said that so far 447 patients are admitted in various wards. “The death toll is 51. No child died in the medical college in the last 24 hours,” he said.

Meanwhile, the district administration said Deepak Yadav, a Panchayat Development Officer of Matsena village, has been suspended for being lax. Nodal Officer Sudhir Kumar Bobde also visited the affected areas like Sudama Nagar and Alan Nagar to inquire about the well being of the people and urged them to inform the health department in case of dengue and viral fever. He appealed to the people to avoid storing excess water.

Pragatisheel Samajwadi Party (Lohia) chief Shivpal Singh Yadav also visited the medical college and inquired about the patients admitted there. Shivpal told reporters that more than 200 patients of dengue and viral fever visit the hospital daily. “There is a shortage of beds and the medicine given is not of good quality,” he alleged.

Firozabad, which is about 50 km from Agra and 320 km from state capital Lucknow, has been battling an outbreak of dengue and deadly viral fever for the past two weeks, with most of the victims being children. According to officials, some cases have been found in the neighboring countries of Mathura, Agra and Mainpuri.
