Kerala

Continuing the downward trend, Kerala on Sunday recorded 5,848 fresh coronavirus infections and 65 deaths, taking the caseload to 50,61,072 and the toll to 35,750.

According to the state health ministry, with 7,228 more people recovering from the virus since Saturday, the total recoveries went down to 49,57,509 and the active cases came down to 67,185.

Of the 65 deaths, 46 were reported in the last few days and 19 were designated as COVID-19 deaths after receiving appeals based on fresh guidelines from the Center and the Supreme Court’s directions.

Among the 14 districts, Ernakulam reported the highest number of cases at 919, followed by Kozhikode (715) and Thiruvananthapuram (724).

Maharashtra

According to a PTI report, Maharashtra on Sunday reported 956 COVID-19 cases and 18 deaths, taking the state’s tally to 66,24,300 and the toll to 1,40,583.

All the 18 deaths occurred in the Mumbai division, including 11 in Raigad, five in Kalyan-Dombivli civic area of ​​Thane district and two in the metropolis.

He said with the discharge of 966 persons, the number of recoveries in Maharashtra rose to 64,67,879, which is 97.64 per cent of the total tally, with 12,191 active cases in the state. The mortality rate was 2.12 percent.

Mumbai reported 264 cases and two deaths, taking the toll in the country’s financial capital to 7,60,329 and 16,292 respectively.
