Filmmaker Anurag Kashyap’s cinematic miracle Gangs of Wasseypur completes 10 years on the horizon of Indian cinema today. The film helped the audience as well, and the filmmakers realized the immense potential that actors like Jaideep Ahlawat, Pankaj Tripathi and Nawazuddin Siddiqui had. One of the major USPs of gangster drama apart from superb direction, scintillating acting, effective dialogues and impeccable cinematography is none other than ace casting director Mukesh Chhabra.

Celebrating 10 years of ‘Gangs Of Wasseypur’, Mukesh Chhabra not only took to Instagram to share the news with his followers but also posted some interesting unseen BTS images from the sets, featuring Vicky Kaushal, Neeraj Ghaywan and Shilpa Srivastava. Mukesh wrote a long note on Instagram and completed 10 years of the cult film.

While Mukesh did the right casting for the film, Vicky, Neeraj and Shilpa assisted Anurag in the film, which became a cult classic.

The picture posted by Mukesh on his Instagram story sees the Uri actor smiling as he spends a light moment with his co-mates on the sets of Gangs Of Wasseypur.

Another picture shared by Mukesh on his Instagram handle, shows the film’s team again at the Cannes Film Festival.

In an exclusive conversation with News18, Jaideep Ahlawat opened up about what the film means to him, and the experience of shooting for it.

Talking about the film that has achieved a cult status, Jaideep said, “I always say that Gangs Of Wasseypur was my first knock on the doors of Hindi cinema, jaha bohot saare logon ne pehli baar yeh feel kiya that there is an actor around jinko aap try kar sakte ho (where many people felt for the first time that there is an actor around who can be cast). Woh film bohot special rahi hamesha se, aur aj bhi utni special hai mere life mein. Length wise woh role zyada bada nahi tha, par mujhe lagta hai ki acchi writing ka ya acche direction kay ahi khubsurat hissa hota hai ki woh length k upar zyada depend karta nahi hai. Uska impact jo jaana chahiye tha woh gaya. (The film has been special always, even now it’s a special film to me.”

He continued, “Length wise, my role was not that big, but the quality of good writing and good direction is that the length of the role doesn’t matter. Created the impact it should have made). I am almighty, and whole. Wasseypur team- writers, directors, co-actors and everyone who reached the people of that film and of course being a part of it was a lucky part in itself (that the film reached the audience and of course) I am thankful to be a part of the film. Was lucky to be there.) So yes, it’s been 10 years since Wasseypur!”
