The name of the accused is Surendran Yadav.

According to police sources, the arrested accused is a resident of Bihar. He was selling ganja chocolate near the school in that area for the past few days. Police got the news. Investigators learned that apart from school students, cannabis chocolates were also sold to adults. This person was coming on bike for the last few days to sell ganja chocolates. On being informed, the police raided the school and arrested Surendran red-handed. About 8 kg of ganja chocolate was recovered from him.

According to the police, the accused is a resident of Madhubani in Bihar. He used to work in the paan shop of a person named Amal Kumar Yadav. The police came to know that the Ganja chocolates were brought from Bihar. Amal Kumar Yadav absconded soon after the incident. The police is searching for him. A police official said that since the launch of the anti-drug campaign, more than 17,000 ganja peddlers and traders have been arrested so far. Also their bank accounts have been seized.

It may be noted that a few weeks ago, Chief Minister MK Stalin had a meeting with the Home Secretary, DGP and other senior officials. Along with banning the sale of illegal drugs, emphasis has been laid on creating awareness among the students. Stalin called for making Tamil Nadu a drug-free state.
