Some youths of Punjab created hooliganism in Manikarna of Himachal Pradesh. These youths, who reached Manikarna Gurudwara to bow their heads, created a ruckus in the market throughout the night. Apart from assaulting the local Himachali people roaming in the market, these youths pelted stones at the houses. They broke the glasses of two dozen vehicles parked in the market. The youth kept creating ruckus in the market for about two hours.

According to the information received, a group of youths from Punjab had come to Manikarna. Suddenly at 12 o’clock on Sunday night the people of this group gathered on the bridge and reached the market creating a ruckus. Some of these youths were carrying flags with Khalistan written on them. In Manikarna Bazar, the youth forcibly entered a dhaba and started fighting with the people sitting there.

Many videos of the hoodling of youths have come to the fore. With sticks in their hands, these youths started fighting with everyone they saw on the way. Five people got injuries in this. One of them has been admitted to Kullu Regional Hospital.

Amidst the controversy arising out of the incident in Manikarna, the Himachal and Punjab Police sealed the borders of both the states taking precaution. Hola Mahalla in Punjab’s Anandpur Sahib and Baba Badbhag Singh’s fair have started from Monday in Una, Himachal Pradesh. In such a situation, Rapid Action Force has been deployed at the entry point adjoining Punjab in Una district. Una’s ASP Praveen Kumar Dhiman told that the police station is assisting the Rapid Action Force in routine.

Furious at stopping women from making videos

Devendra Sharma, Reena Thakur and others of Manikarna told that Fagli Utsav (local festival) was being celebrated in Manikarna on Sunday evening. In this, local women and girls were performing traditional dance. At the same time, some youths from Punjab entered there and went near the women and girls and started making videos. In order not to spoil the atmosphere, the local people stopped these youths from making videos. After that the youth left from there.

After the celebration was over at around 11.30 pm, the local people also went to their respective homes. About half an hour after this, at 12 o’clock in the night the youth suddenly came on the road and started creating ruckus. They broke the glasses of two dozen vehicles parked on the roadside. They hurled stones at the vehicles and damaged them. Seeing the hue and cry of the youth, the local people closed the doors of their houses.

When some people from the roof of their houses asked the youths not to create ruckus, they started throwing stones at the houses. According to the local people, youths carrying Khalistani flags created an atmosphere of panic in the area.

All the youths left the Manikarna valley before Monday morning after a brawl that lasted for about two hours in the night. This is the reason why the police have not been able to ascertain the number of youths who created the ruckus. According to the local people, around 20 youths created ruckus but the exact number of those who created ruckus has not been revealed yet.

DC-SP arrived on scene with dig

On the other hand, sensing the seriousness of the matter, Himachal Police’s Central Range DIG Madhusudan Sharma, Kullu’s DC Ashutosh Garg and SP Sakshi Verma reached Manikarna as soon as they got information about the incident. Himachal’s Chief Parliamentary Secretary (CPS) Sunder Singh Thakur also reached Manikarna. Top police-administration officials held a meeting with the Management Committee of Manikarna Gurdwara and representatives of the local panchayat. In this meeting, an appeal was made to exercise restraint from both the sides.

Additional police deployed in Manikarna Valley

Kullu SP Sakshi Verma said that the situation is completely under control. Police has registered a case against unknown people. There is no restriction on the movement of tourists in the valley. Additional police force has been deployed to maintain order. The SP said that after getting the information late in the night, the police reached Manikarna Bazar and handled the situation. How many houses and vehicles were damaged in the uproar? It is being assessed.

Will scan CCTV footage

CPS Sunder Singh Thakur said that footage of CCTV cameras installed in the market would be checked to identify the youths involved in the incident. The Congress government of Himachal will not spare those who create such hue and cry under any circumstances.

The Himachal Police has officially informed the Punjab government about this hooliganism by the youth of Punjab. Himachal Police’s DGP Sanjay Kundu spoke to Punjab’s Chief Secretary Vijay Kumar Janjua and Punjab’s DGP Gaurav Yadav, apart from the state’s Chief Secretary Prabodh Saxena. Himachal DGP said that in a peace-loving state like Himachal, such hooliganism will not be tolerated. The DGP said that DIG Central Range Madhusudan Sharma and Kullu SP Sakshi Verma are personally probing the matter.

Hindu Jagran Manch burnt the flag of Khalistan

Angered by this act of the youth, the Hindu Jagran Manch demonstrated at Manikarna Bazar on Monday evening. During this, the members of the forum burnt the flags of Khalistan and shouted slogans of Khalistan Murdabad. Jitendra Rajput of Hindu Jagran Manch said that he opposes the hooliganism of Punjabi youths. They took off pro-Khalistan flags from two vehicles of youths and burnt them.
