Before next year’s assembly elections in Haryana, the BJP has made a big bet to help the vote bank associated with the politically dominant Chautala family in the state. The BJP has enhanced the political stature of late Chaudhary Devilal’s grandson and BJP leader Aditya Devilal by making him the chairman of the Haryana Marketing Board.

Aditya Devilal is the first district president and leader of Sirsa district, who has been made the party’s chairman for the second time. Prior to this, he has also been the chairman of the Haryana State Cooperative Agriculture and Rural Development Board Limited.

Through this bet, BJP has played in view of the political rivalry between the family of former Deputy Prime Minister Chaudhary Devi Lal and the upcoming challenges from JJP, INLD.

4 big reasons to bet on Aditya Chautala…

1. The only Jat face in Sirsa
In Haryana, the BJP definitely came back to power in 2019 but could not win a single seat out of the five assembly seats in Sirsa for the second time in a row. BJP earlier had Pawan Bainiwal Jat face of Ellenabad in Sirsa. But, after he left the party during the farmer’s movement, the BJP had Aditya Chautala, the only Jat face in the district. By making Aditya Chautala the chairman, the BJP did the work of helping the Jat voters of the district. Being from Devi Lal family, BJP is establishing Aditya Chautala as a Jat leader.

2. Uncle minister and nephew deputy CM, but BJP is not taking risk on support
Despite the alliance with JJP, the BJP has maintained the balance of power by appointing Ranjit Chautala, the younger son of late Chaudhary Devi Lal and independent MLA from Raniya as a minister. Ranjit Singh, an independent MLA from Raniya in Sirsa, is the power minister in the government, who is Aditya’s real uncle. Ranjit Singh is praising the BJP while enjoying the power, but it is not clear whether he will fight the next assembly elections on a BJP ticket.

On the other hand, Deputy CM Dushyant Chautala from JJP is Aditya’s nephew. However, the leaders of the JJP, which is an ally in the government, have been complaining about the non-availability of 45 seats due to non-availability of workers for some time. JJP leaders have shown eyes to BJP many times and are talking about contesting elections alone. In such a situation, BJP does not want to take any risk regarding JJP and Ranjit Chautala at the time of elections. This is the reason why the BJP, while playing the safe game, bet on the grandson of the former Deputy Prime Minister.

Due to lack of work in his own government, Aditya Chautala reached the city council office with sheep and goats.

3. Defeated sister-in-law Kanta Chautala in Zilla Parishad
Aditya Chautala joined BJP before 2014 assembly elections. Although he did not get the assembly ticket at that time. Aditya Chautala defeated Kanta Chautala, wife of INLD leader Abhay Chautala, in the Zilla Parishad elections in 2016 Panchayati elections. With this, he showed his dominance in Sirsa politics and Jat politics.

4. BJP benefits from political rivalry
There is political rivalry between the families of former Prime Minister Late Chaudhary Devi Lal. In the current BJP-JJP coalition government of Haryana, former Deputy Prime Minister Chaudhary Devi Lal’s son Ranjit Chautala is a minister from his family. Grandson Dushyant Chautala is the deputy CM in the coalition government. Grand daughter-in-law Naina Chautala is the MLA in the alliance.

Aditya Chautala has become the chairman of the Haryana Marketing Board in the BJP government. Abhay Chautala is the only one who is out of the coalition government. The BJP wants to take advantage of the mutual political rivalry between the families of former Deputy Prime Ministers.

Read about Aditya Chautala…

With the name Chautala not Devi Lal writes: Aditya’s father Jagdish Chautala was not active in politics. In Haryana, Chaudhary Omprakash started the tradition of adding Chautala to his name. But Aditya started writing his grandfather ‘Devilal’ with his name.

Lost the first assembly election: Aditya Chautala staked his claim by conducting CM Manohar Lal’s rally in Dabwali just before the 2019 elections. He also got the ticket but in 2019 assembly elections from Dabwali in Sirsa, he lost to Amit Sihag of Congress. Then, giving Aditya Chautala a position in the organization, the party appointed him as the district president.

Aditya reached the city council with sheep and goats: Aditya Chautala, being the District President in BJP, in September 2021 had reached the building with sheep and goats expressing his displeasure over the non-action of plot transfer in the city council. Then he accused the city council of corruption. Then this matter had reached the CM.

Party can make new district president
He can resign from the post of district president after BJP district president Aditya Chautala becomes chairman. There is a rule of one person one post in BJP. In such a situation, now BJP can make a new district president in Sirsa. Recently, a former District President of Sirsa has also met with BJP State President OP Dhankhar.
