The water level of Yamuna and Ghaggar rivers of Haryana has increased considerably due to the rains on the mountains.

Haryana, which was hit by floods, was submerged by two rivers. These rivers are Yamuna and Ghaggar. Yamuna engulfed more than 100 villages falling on the 252 kilometer route from Hathinikund Barrage to Palwal. At the same time, the water of Ghaggar has also entered many villages from Panchkula to Fatehabad-Sirsa. Along with these rivers, 4 tributaries of the state, Som, Tangri, Markanda and Saraswati also gave full support.

So far 16 people have died due to floods in Haryana. 4 people are missing. 126 houses have been completely damaged and 106 have been damaged. Army has been called by the government in Ambala, Yamunanagar, Karnal and Panipat. 1.24 lakh hectares of crops have been damaged.

The entry of the Yamuna river in Haryana is through Hathinikund Barrage. This time the water released from the barrage affected more than 10 villages till Yamuna Nagar. Here 15,000 acres of crops were submerged by Yamuna water. Flood water entered more than 5 villages. Yamuna’s dam broke at 3 places on the way of 39 KM from here to Karnal. Due to high flow between Karnal and Panipat, the dam broke at two places.

Due to the strong current of Yamuna, 2 dams were broken in Sonepat. Flood water is still full in 2 villages. From here via Delhi, Yamuna then enters Faridabad in Haryana. Yamuna flows from here till Palwal. In this route of 75 KM Yamuna also, the water of the river caused a lot of damage. Flood water entered 18 villages and colonies in Faridabad. More than 6 villages were affected in Palwal.

Now know… Ghaggar’s route and the damage caused by it
Ghaggar’s entry is from Sant Nagar in Haryana. From here it reaches Fatehabad, Sirsa via Panchkula, Ambala, Kaithal. This river affected more than 40 villages in Panchkula, damaged 2 thousand acres of crops. At the same time, the dam near Shambhu border in Ambala was broken. In Kaithal too, the river caused a lot of damage. In Fatehabad, 5 villages are flood affected, 2 thousand acres of crops have been damaged here. There is a threat of flood from Ghaggar in Sirsa today.

Two canals also created havoc
The Narwana Branch Canal and Hansi-Butana Canal also suffered a lot of damage during the rains in Haryana. The Narwana branch canal submerged one lakh acres of crops in 15 villages in Ambala. Due to this, five thousand acres of crops in 10 villages of Kurukshetra were damaged. On the other hand, Hansi-Butana canal caused erosion at three places in Kaithal district, due to which hundreds of acres of crops were damaged.

There was no respite from the floods in Haryana even on the fourth day. 11 districts of the state are still affected by the floods.
