The Supreme Court on Tuesday dismissed a plea seeking direction to the Center for reclassification of the caste system. A bench of CJI DY Chandrachud and Justice PS Narasimha, while dismissing the petition filed by the lawyer, also imposed a fine of Rs 25,000 on the petitioner.

The court was hearing a PIL filed by advocate Sachin Gupta, seeking a direction to the Center to frame a policy for reclassification of the caste system under Article 32 of the Constitution.

Bar Association should pay the fine within two weeks
The bench reprimanded the lawyer and said, “This is a misuse of law. Such PILs should stop. We reject it and direct the Supreme Court Bar Association to pay a fine of Rs 25,000. The petitioner has to pay two Receipt of payment has to be produced within a week.

Sachin’s second petition also rejected
Another petition was filed by Advocate Sachin Gupta seeking a gradual abolition of reservation and implementation of the policy of alternative reservation. However, the court rejected this too and for this also a fine of 25 thousand has been imposed on Sachin.
