It is said that there is neither a permanent enemy nor a permanent friend in politics. Everything changes here with the passage of time. An example of this was seen in the meeting of all the opposition parties against the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) government of Punjab in Jalandhar on Thursday. Navjot Singh Sidhu and Bikram Singh Majithia, who were staunch opponents of each other, were seen throwing jaffies at each other in this meeting.
From the general program to the Vidhansabha, both the leaders, who kept distance from each other everywhere and targeted each other fiercely, were seen extending the hand of friendship in the all-party meeting.

Sidhu said – no personal enmity
After inserting Jaffi from Majithia, Sidhu said in a joking tone that Jaffi has been inserted, pappi nahi li. There was laughter in the whole hall on this. Sidhu then said that he had no personal enmity with Majithia. Mutual differences are of ideology and party which will remain in future also.

Sidhu said that the distance should not be so much that it is not even worth shaking hands. He said that I had made a lot of distance with Majithia, I agree that it was my mistake. No matter how many estrangements a person may have, but when they meet in front of the world, they should at least be worthy of shaking hands. I too have differences, but they are political.
Both had a change of heart after going to jail
Till both did not go to jail, they used to talk about sending each other to jail. But, when both of them spent years in Patiala Jail, the food and water there ended their enmity towards each other. Even during the last Lok Sabha by-election, Sidhu refused to make any comment against Majithia.

Sidhu had publicly called Majithia a chitta trader in the Assembly. Majithia was called a drug smuggler. On the other hand, Majithia used to taunt Sidhu by calling him Thoko Tali. Sidhu used to say who once had a bicycle, where did he get the rangerover and the parking lot in America. Sidhu called Majithia a liquor mafia drugs mafia.
