Satyendar Jain is under ED custody since May 31, 2022. When he was brought to the hospital on 22 May 2023, he was looking very weak.
Former Delhi Health Minister Satyendar Jain has been granted bail for 42 days (6 weeks) by the Supreme Court on Friday, 360 days after his arrest. Till July 11, he has got interim relief from the court. He will have to appear in court again on June 10. During the hearing, the court said – looking at Jain’s health, he should be released. During this he will not go out of Delhi.
The Supreme Court said- We allow Satyendar Jain to get treated in a private hospital. Jain will not influence any witness. He will not go out of Delhi without the permission of the court. Whatever treatment is being done during bail, its documents should be presented before the court.
Advocate Abhishek Manu Singhvi on behalf of Satyendar Jain and ASG Raju on behalf of ED presented arguments in the Supreme Court. Satyendar Jain was arrested by ED on May 31 last year.

Arguments on Jain’s bail lasted for 25 minutes in the court…
Singhvi: I have very strong grounds for bail, but am not mentioning them today. I am seeking bail only on the grounds of health. You can see the rest later.
ASG Raju: On behalf of the Enforcement Directorate, ASG SV Raju said, Jain’s checkup should be done in AIIMS if he is seeking bail on medical grounds. There is scope for error in the records of other hospitals. Independent investigation is necessary. He has been the health minister. The medical records of Delhi hospitals may not be correct.
Supreme Court: Justice Narasimha said, “This problem is not such that it has been there before. It came in front of us overnight.”
ASG Raju: If the investigation report comes in favor of Jain, then I will accept defeat. RMM or AIIMS panel should check Jain.
Singhvi: This man has been in jail for a year. He got bail on July 19 in the charges against him. After this he was questioned 7 times.
Supreme Court: Argue on medical grounds only. Mr. Raju! What is the reason that you do not trust the medical report?
ASG Raju: Please see my affidavit. He has been the health minister and his photographs are displayed in every hospital in Delhi. He has also been the Jail Minister. The Enforcement Directorate is worried about the fact that they can misuse their position. His old investigation reports were also fake. As soon as we said that his investigation should be done in AIIMS, he withdrew his request.
Jain’s history shows that he feigns illness, gets fake reports and withdraws his request when it comes to independent investigation. He was fit on 13 May. According to the process, we had checked them. There were no symptoms of the disease. Suddenly symptoms started appearing on 14th May?
Singhvi: They got the inquiry done in LNGP, not in GB Pant. Anyone from Tihar is referred to LNGP only. Today’s reports cannot be ignored because they are from 2022. Where will he run? He will be back in jail in 1-2 months. His weight has decreased by 32 kg. Skeletons are gone. They have the right to get treated in a private hospital. His muscles are getting weaker, there is a problem with the spine, he has lost weight. Treatment should be done in private hospital.
ASG Raju: As far as weight loss is concerned, he is a Jain. He believes in fasting. When he fasts, the weight is reduced.
Supreme Court: Justice JK Maheshwari said – This order is limited to medical ground only. We grant bail to Satyendar Jain on medical grounds. We give them 6 weeks for treatment in a private hospital of their choice. Jain will neither meet nor try to influence any witness. He will not leave Delhi. Whatever investigation has been done on Jain, its documents will be placed before the court.
Sick Satyendar Jain gets bail on conditions
The Supreme Court said- Get treatment for 6 weeks; Neither will we make statements nor will we leave Delhi nor will we meet the witnesses.

Earlier on May 18, the Supreme Court issued a notice to the ED seeking its reply. Jain is in custody since May 31, 2022. On April 6, after the bail plea was rejected by the Delhi High Court, he appealed to the Supreme Court.
Was brought to the hospital for the third time in a week
On the morning of 25 May, AAP leader Satyendar Jain had slipped and fallen in the washroom of Tihar Jail. He was admitted to Deendayal Upadhyay Hospital in the morning. After his condition deteriorated around 12 noon, he was shifted to Loknayak Jai Prakash Narayan Hospital (LNJP) and put on oxygen support.
This was the third time in a week that Jain had been brought to the hospital. Earlier on May 22, he was taken to Safdarjung Hospital in Delhi itself. Then he had problems with his spine. On May 20 also, he was brought to Deen Dayal Hospital due to the same problem.
Money-laundering case on Satyendra Jain
The Enforcement Directorate (ED) had launched a money-laundering probe against Jain on August 24, 2017, on the basis of an FIR lodged by the CBI. From February 14, 2015 to May 31, 2017, Satyendar Jain had purchased movable properties in the name of several persons. For which they could not give a satisfactory account. Along with him, a case was also registered against Poonam Jain, Ajit Prasad Jain, Sanil Kumar Jain, Vaibhav Jain and Ankush Jain.
