Shiv Sena MP Sanjay Raut has sent a legal notice to BJP leader and Union Minister Narayan Rane on Friday. Raut has accused Rane of defamation. Raut said that on January 15, during a program in Bhandup, Rane had said derogatory, malicious and false things against him.

Raut wrote on social media – BJP leaders are making baseless allegations against him. He should prove his allegation or else apologise. I have issued a notice to him regarding legal action through my lawyer.

What did Rane say about Raut?
According to media reports, Raut’s allegation is that the BJP leader had said in a program on January 15 – In 2004, on the request of Balasaheb Thackeray, he made Raut a Rajya Sabha MP. Rane said that Sanjay Raut’s name was not even registered in the voters’ list at that time.

Raut said – Rane is lying along with BJP
Raut said that Narayan Rane should now prove that my name was not in the voter list. They are saying that they spent money to get me elected in Rajya Sabha. I mean what did you do? Spending money in this way comes under the ambit of anti-corruption. Rane is lying in collusion with the BJP. Now they have to answer in the court.

Raut said that he was made an MP by the Shiv Sena chief. Narayan Rane was also made by CM Balasaheb. Narayan Rane has to apologize for his false statement. All Shiv Sena leaders are going to file a case against him.

Rane has been a leader of Shiv Sena and Congress
Narayan Rane was in Shiv Sena till July 2005. After this he joined the Congress. The separation between Rane and Shiv Sena came about due to family feud. Rane was the Chief Minister of Maharashtra 18 years ago. After holding the post of CM for about nine months, there was a tussle between Rane and Bal Thackeray’s son Uddhav.

Rane was called the remote controlled CM of Shiv Sena. Because Uddhav had started handling the real reins at that time. Thereafter the BJP-Shiv Sena alliance lost the election and Rane became the Leader of the Opposition. Then in 2005, Rane was expelled from the party by Bal Thackeray saying that only I have the right to remove and choose the leader in Shiv Sena.

After being expelled from the Shiv Sena, Rane joined the Congress and became a minister. In 2018, he left the Congress and formed his own party. In 2018, he announced his support to the BJP and was sent to the Rajya Sabha. In 2019, he merged his party with BJP. Rane is currently a cabinet minister in the central government.
