The blue tick has been removed from the Twitter account of Uddhav Thackeray faction’s Shiv Sena. Means now this account is not verified. When this came to light, the Thackeray faction changed the name of the Twitter account to Shiv Sena Uddhav Balasaheb Thackeray. According to media reports, Shiv Sena’s official website ShivSena.in has also been closed.
In fact, the Election Commission on Friday approved Eknath Shinde’s claim on the name and symbol of the Shiv Sena party, the bow and arrow. Only after this the name of Shiv Sena’s official Twitter handle was changed. However, no statement has been issued by the party or Twitter regarding this.
Why removed the blue tick, what are the rules of Twitter
According to Twitter’s rules, if a verified user changes their profile photo, display name or username (@handle), the blue tick will be removed and the blue tick will not appear until the account is validated again. In such a situation, one has to reapply for Blue Tick. The Uddhav faction’s Shiv Sena has changed its profile photo and name in the past, so it is being speculated that this could be the reason for the blue tick.
Shinde faction got Shiv Sena name and symbol a day before
The Election Commission has accepted the Eknath Shinde faction as the real Shiv Sena. The Commission had given permission to the Shinde faction to use the Shiv Sena’s name and bow and arrow symbol a day earlier i.e. on Friday evening. The commission found that the present constitution of Shiv Sena is undemocratic. The Uddhav faction spoiled it by undemocratically appointing people from their circle as office bearers without holding elections.
The Election Commission also found that undemocratic practices were secretly brought back in the Shiv Sena’s original constitution, reducing the party to a private fiefdom. These methods were rejected by the Election Commission in 1999. Such a party structure fails to inspire confidence. With this, the claim of Uddhav faction from Shiv Sena in Maharashtra is considered to be over.
