TMC MP Abhishek Banerjee has not got relief from the Supreme Court on Friday in the West Bengal teacher recruitment scam case. The SC refused to stay the investigation and interrogation of ED and CBI in the case. At the same time, the Calcutta High Court’s decision to impose a fine of 25 lakhs was stayed. The Kolkata HC had on May 18 allowed the probe agencies to interrogate Banerjee.

A vacation bench of Justices JK Maheshwari and PS Narasimha said they would hear the matter after the vacations. He has fixed the date of July 10 for the hearing.

Banerjee was questioned by the CBI for 9 hours on May 20.
Banerjee was summoned by the CBI on May 20 in connection with the investigation of the case. He was interrogated for 9 hours. In her petition, Banerjee had appealed to the SC to direct that the agency not take any coercive steps against her.

Coming out after questioning, Abhishek had said that this is nothing but a waste of CBI and my time. We will not become pet dogs of the bosses of Delhi. That’s why we were targeted. On demonetisation, Abhishek said that now is the time of vote ban, nothing will happen with demonetisation. ‘Votbandi’ will happen in 2024…Karnataka results will be repeated in 2024.

CBI notice was received on May 19 to Abhishek
On Friday, May 19, Abhishek shared the CBI notice on Twitter and wrote – I have received a notice to appear before the CBI tomorrow i.e. on May 20. I will comply with CBI’s summons even after the notice was not given a day earlier. I will cooperate during the investigation.

After receiving the notice from the agency, Abhishek had temporarily stopped his public relations campaign. Talking to the media the same day in the evening, he had said that the CBI has called me tomorrow at 11 am. That is why I am returning to Kolkata tonight.

what is teacher recruitment scam
This scam happened in Bengal is of 2014. Then the West Bengal School Service Commission (SSC) took out the recruitment of teachers in government schools. The process started in 2016. Partha Chatterjee was the education minister at that time. Several complaints of irregularities in this matter were filed in the Calcutta High Court.

The petitioners alleged that the candidates whose marks were less were placed at the top of the merit list. Some candidates were given jobs even though their names were not there in the merit list. Such people were also given jobs, who did not even pass the TET exam.

The CBI had presented the first charge sheet on September 30 last year. It contained the names of 16 people including former education minister Partha Chatterjee. ED had arrested Partha Chatterjee and his close aide Arpita Mukherjee. Parth is in jail since 23 July 2022, his bail pleas have been rejected.
