Sharad Pawar, who left the post of NCP president on May 2, took back his resignation within 4 days. He gave this information by holding a press conference on Friday. Pawar said- I cannot insult the sentiments of party workers and leaders. I respect the decision taken in the core committee and withdraw my decision. However, Ajit Pawar stayed away from this press conference.

The party’s core committee meeting was held in Mumbai at 11 am today, in which party’s national general secretary Praful Patel moved a resolution to reject Pawar’s resignation. After this, the rest of the members of the committee also supported it. Patel came before the media around 12 noon and informed about the decision. After this, all the leaders reached Pawar’s house to inform about their decision.

After five and a half hours i.e. at 5:30 in the evening, Sharad Pawar called a press conference and announced to take back his resignation. However, during this time his nephew and Leader of Opposition in Maharashtra Legislative Assembly Ajit Pawar was not present. When Pawar was questioned on this, he only said that all the leaders are united.

Pawar indicated reshuffle in the organization
Talking to the media, Pawar said – A plan will have to be made regarding the successor of NCP in future. We have to decide who will lead the party next. Will also pay attention to the organizational change in the party. Pawar said that he would now work for the party with renewed vigour.

Praful Patel proposed to reject the resignation
After his resignation, Pawar formed a 16-member core committee to elect a new president. The committee had a meeting in Mumbai on Friday. In the meeting, the party’s national general secretary Praful Patel moved a motion to reject Pawar’s resignation and requested him to withdraw the decision.

The rest of the committee members also supported the resolution and rejected Pawar’s resignation. After continuous protests by party leaders and workers, Sharad Pawar had also said that he would accept the decision taken by the 16-member committee to elect the new president.

After the party’s core committee meeting was over on Friday morning, Praful Patel came out of Yashwant Rao Chavan Center in Mumbai and held a press conference and informed about the decision taken in the meeting. After this all the leaders went to meet Pawar and informed him about their decision. Since then, the pressure on Pawar to withdraw the decision had increased.

Praful Patel said – Sharad Pawar ji took the decision without informing us. On the demand of all party workers and leaders, the committee rejected his resignation. We have appealed to him to continue as the party president. We have appealed to him that the country and the party need you. Not only NCP, other parties have also requested that Pawar should continue as the president. Patel said- Sharad Pawar ji’s stature and his respect are different. We will not be able to elect a new president now. We want Pawar saheb to complete his term.

Leaders of other parties also appealed to Pawar to withdraw his resignation.
Pawar resigned from the post of president on 2 May. Protests against the resignation have continued since the announcement. Congress leader Rahul Gandhi and Tamil Nadu CM MK Stalin had also appealed to Pawar to withdraw his resignation on Thursday.

According to NCP sources, a few hours after the resignation, both of them called Supriya Sule and asked her to explain to Pawar. Leaders of several non-BJP parties advised him to continue as party president till the next Lok Sabha elections.

Activists were opposing the resignation
On Wednesday, Pawar had also said that there was immense pressure on him to withdraw his resignation. Although his nephew Ajit said that Sahab’s decision is not reversible. Here, a day after the announcement of Sharad Pawar’s resignation, Jitendra Awhad resigned from the post of party general secretary. After this MLA Anil Patil also sent his resignation letter to Sharad Pawar. Apart from this, a worker attempted self-immolation outside the party office on Friday. However, after the resignation from the committee was rejected, the party workers started celebrating. They started raising slogans.

Three names were doing the rounds for the new president
A meeting of the 16-member committee was held at the Yashwant Rao Chavan Center in Mumbai on Wednesday. In this, there was a discussion about making the new president of the party. The names of Ajit Pawar, Supriya Sule and Praful Patel were ahead in the presidential race. However, party general secretary Praful Patel said that he was not ready for the post of president. The party has already given him a big responsibility.
