वकील ने महिला जज की भस्मासुर से की तुलना: असम हाईकोर्ट ने पाया अवमानना का दोषी; मांगनी पड़ी माफी

The Assam High Court has held a lawyer guilty of contempt of court for comparing a woman judge to Bhasmasur. Advocate Utpal Goswami had made objectionable remarks about the jewellery, dress and behavior of a female judge.

Goswami was charged with criminal contempt regarding this. After which he accepted his mistake in the court and apologized unconditionally. Requesting mercy from the court, he said that he will not repeat such a mistake in future.

A bench of Justice Kalyan Rai Surana and Justice Devashish Baruha took suo motu cognizance and heard the matter.

Judge running the court wearing jewelery like a model

The lawyer had said about the Additional District Judge, Jorhat – she is running the court wearing jewelery like a model. They do not listen to the lawyers and try to suppress the lawyers by citing unnecessary case law. They try to control the courtroom like a gang.

Goswami alleged that the woman judge used her official car and driver for personal work. Along with this he was compared to the demon Bhasmasur.

Sentence will be pronounced on March 20

A bench of Justice Kalyan Rai Surana and Justice Devashish Baruha will pronounce the sentence in this case on March 20. Since this was his first mistake, he has now been granted bail on a bond of Rs 10,000.
