In Ludhiana, Punjab, two children were run over by a speeding car of some people who had come to eat chicken. Both the children are real brothers. The driver dragged them for a long distance due to which both the children got trapped between the tires and the engine of the car. The crowd gathered after the incident overturned the car and somehow pulled out the children. The leg of one of them was amputated on the spot.
In a hurry, both were taken to Chandigarh PGI refer where their condition remains critical. The children were identified as 16-year-old Sonu and 10-year-old Monu. He works as a rag picker in the area. The accused driver fled after the accident.
The car that ran over the children was badly damaged. After the accident, the police of Millerganj outpost of Ludhiana took the car into custody.
Chicken Corner’s cook climbed the car
The incident took place near Dholewal bridge in Ludhiana on Monday night. Some people in a white colored car (PB-10EL-2244) came here to eat chicken at a shop named Tilak Chicken Corner, then seeing the crowd there, they parked the car on the road. On reaching the shop, the car owner caught Mukesh, the cook of Chaabi Chicken Corner, and asked him to do it in the car side.
Cook Mukesh started the car by sitting on the driving seat and pressed the race instead of the brake. Because of this, the car took Sonu and Monu, two brothers who were collecting garbage on the road, for a long distance. The speed of the car was so high that no one understood anything and Sonu-Monu got trapped under the car between the engine and the tyres. Hearing the screams of both the children, the people gathered there ran for help. On the other side, after going some distance, cook Mukesh applied the brakes of the car and fled from there.
Soon a crowd gathered on the spot. Trapped between the tires of the car, both the brothers were shouting continuously. When both the children were not successful in getting out despite a lot of effort, someone suggested to overturn the car. After this, the mob overturned the car and pulled out both the brothers. One of them had his leg amputated.
With the help of an ambulance that reached the spot, Sonu and Monu were immediately taken to the nearest hospital. Doctors referred both to Chandigarh PGI after first aid.

Both brothers sleep under the bridge
The victims of the accident, Sonu and Monu, work as garbage collectors in the area. There are many chicken shops around the Dholewal bridge where people come in dozens of vehicles every evening. Both the brothers used to come here every evening to pick up the garbage. At the time when the accident happened, both were collecting empty plastic bottles lying on the roadside. Both the brothers sleep under the Jagraon bridge in Ludhiana itself. The police also could not get any information about the parents of both of them.

The accident was so fast that both the front seat airbags of the car opened. ASI Balveer Singh of Miller Ganj Police Station of Ludhiana said that the police had reached the spot as soon as the information about the accident was received. The car in which both the children were run over has been taken into custody by the police. Mukesh, the cook of Tilak Chicken Corner who caused the accident, is absconding. Police is interrogating the owner of Tilak Chicken Corner to know his address.
