There was a gas leak in the milk booth located at Gyaspura in Ludhiana at 7.15 am on Sunday. This booth is located in a residential area.
In Punjab’s Ludhiana, 11 people died due to gas leakage on Sunday morning. The dead include 5 women and 4 men, including 2 children. The children are 10 and 13 years old. The accident took place at 7:15 am in a milk booth built in a building near Gyaspura Industrial Area of the city. Ludhiana’s SDM Swati said that 12 people fainted after the gas leak.
After the incident, teams of Medical, Fire Brigade, Police and NDRF have reached the spot. The sick people have been taken to the district hospital. MLA here Rajinderpal Kaur said that the milk booth in the building was open and whoever went here in the morning to get milk fell unconscious. The administration has sealed an area of one kilometer around the building.

Many people have been found in a state of unconsciousness within 300 meters of this building built in a residential area. People of nearby houses and dhabas have also fainted. The administration launched a search operation in the surrounding areas with the help of drones. Ludhiana Police Commissioner Mandeep Sidhu told that all the people have been evacuated from the building where the incident took place.
After the accident, medical workers and local people took the dead bodies and the sick to the hospital.
Five people of the same family were killed in their sleep
A person named Kapil Kumar, who lives in the area, told that five people of his family have died. Kapil told that the family members were sleeping when the gas leaked. At the same time, he died due to the effect of gas.
The policemen who reached the spot tied handkerchiefs on their faces and took the sick people to the ambulance.
It is not known which gas leak, machines were ordered
It is not yet known which gas leaked in the area and what is the reason for it. However, in the initial investigation, the smell of gas has been found to be like sewerage gas. Now machines have been called to check the gas.
Police Commissioner Mandeep Sidhu told that this could happen due to acid in the sewer or the presence of some chemical inside could be the reason for this gas. Although something can be said formally only after investigation.
Wearing masks, the rescue team reached near the building where the gas leak was reported.

According to administrative officials, the name of the building from which gas is said to have leaked is Goyal Cold Drinks on Sua Road in Gyaspura, Ludhiana. People lived in the upper part of this building. There is also a possibility of people fainting. The NDRF team is trying to reach the building wearing masks.

Relatives of those killed in the accident gathered outside the mortuary of Ludhiana Civil Hospital.
After the accident, an area of about one kilometer near the spot has been sealed.
