Rajya Sabha Voting Process

The MLAs of the concerned state vote for the election of the Rajya Sabha member. Since 2003, voting for the Rajya Sabha is not secret but by open ballot. That is, when the MLA votes, he has to show his vote to the representative of his party, failing which his vote is cancelled. This does not apply only to independents, but this rule applies to all the MLAs of the party.
