The Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) will no longer forge an alliance with any party in the elections. Party supremo Mayawati has announced this on her birthday. After which Shiromani Akali Dal has got another setback in Punjab. The Akali Dal, which had faltered in the assembly elections in 2017 and now in 2022, has once again become alone.

Mayawati has announced her decision on her birthday. He has taken the name of the Congress in his talk that the Congress is already doing wrong propaganda of the alliance, due to which he had to take this decision. But his decision will have an impact in Punjab as well. During the 2017 assembly elections, the BSP had entered the electoral fray along with the Akali Dal. While the Akali Dal fielded its candidates on 97 seats, the BSP’s 20 candidates were in the fray.

Akali Dal was limited to 3 seats
Talking about the 2022 elections, BSP’s Nachhatar Pal won from Nawa city, fighting only on 20 seats. On the other hand, Akali Dal fielded its candidates on 97 seats, but only three seats came in their account.

Not only this, the vote share of BSP had also increased this year as compared to 2017. In 2017, where 1.5 percent votes were cast for BSP, in 2022 the vote share of BSP increased to 1.77%. On the other hand, the vote percentage of Akali Dal is continuously decreasing.

BSP had opened account after 1997
Talking about the last elections, for the first time after 1997, the BSP had opened its account in Punjab in the 2022 elections. In the 2017 assembly elections, the BSP fielded its candidates on 11 seats, but except one, none of the others could save their deposits. Talking about the 2012 assembly elections, the BSP had fielded candidates for 109 seats, but their deposits were forfeited.

There was an alliance after 25 years
In the 2022 elections, both the parties had joined hands after 25 years. Earlier, both the parties had contested the Lok Sabha elections together in 1996. At that time the alliance had won 11 of the 13 Lok Sabha seats in the state.

Akali Dal again alone
After this decision of BSP, Akali Dal has once again become lonely. In 2021, during the ongoing agitation against the agricultural laws, the Akali Dal broke the alliance with the BJP. Even then the Akali Dal was left alone. Finally in 2022 elections he got support of BSP which has now again broken after Mayawati’s announcement.

There has already been a split within the Akali Dal. After this, even Bibi Jagir Kaur, who always stood by his side, also turned a blind eye to the Badal family during the SGPC elections and fought the elections together with the opposition.
