Normal rain forecast this year

The Meteorological Department has said that the monsoon is expected to be normal this year. If the rains are normal, then food grain production in the country will also be normal. That is, it can provide relief from inflation. Farmers in the country usually start sowing summer crops from June 1. This is the time when monsoon rains reach India. The sowing of the crop continues till the beginning of August.

What is normal rain?
The IMD said that the rainfall is likely to be 96% of the Long Period Average (LPA). If the rainfall is between 90-95% of the LPA then it is said to be below normal. If the LPA is 96%-104% then it is called normal rainfall.

If the LPA is between 104% and 110%, then it is called excess rainfall. More than 110% is called excess rainfall and less than 90% is called drought.

80% agriculture depend on rain water
The southwest monsoon receives 70% of the annual rainfall in the country. Even now 70% to 80% farmers in our country depend on rain water for irrigation. In such a situation, their production completely depends on the good or bad monsoon. Inflation also increases when there is a bad monsoon.

The share of the agriculture sector in the Indian economy is about 20%. At the same time, the agriculture sector provides employment to half of the country’s population. Good rains mean that the income of half the population can be good before the festive season. Due to which their spending capacity will also increase.

What is the rule of monsoon coming in the country?
Monsoon is declared to have arrived in the country when at least 2.5 mm of rain occurs for two consecutive days at 8 stations that have declared the onset of monsoon in Kerala, Lakshadweep and Karnataka.
