Devastation after heavy rains at night in Manali’s Jagatsukh

The cloudburst occurred at 11:50 pm in Jagatsukh village of Manali, Himachal Pradesh. After this, debris came on the road from the adjacent drain, due to which the road was blocked and about half a dozen vehicles were damaged due to debris. People got scared after seeing the flood in the night.

On the other hand, the Meteorological Center Shimla has issued a yellow alert for heavy rains in some areas till July 24. During this, there may be heavy rains in some areas, due to which a flood-like situation may develop in the river drains. In view of this, the public has been asked to be careful. According to the Meteorological Department, there is no hope of relief from the rains till July 26.

In view of bad weather and pathetic condition of roads in the state, schools in many sub-divisions have been closed till July 22. Monsoon break has been extended for the third time in the areas of Ani, Nichar, Sangla, Theog, Jubbal-Kotkhai, Kumarsain, Rohru etc.

Devastation happened here and there during 24 hours

There has been a lot of devastation due to heavy rains in the state during the last 24 hours. 27 vehicles were washed away due to flood in Kamru Nala of Kinnaur. Due to this, apple orchards of 10 ghrats and 12 gardeners were also damaged. In Kotkhai, one person died when a tree fell on a car, while another was injured. Heavy rains also caused a lot of damage in Sangla, Rohru’s Kharsali and Rampur. Landslide occurred on the car near Snell on Hatkoti Tiuni road, crushing the car.

676 roads closed, more than 720 routes stalled

After last week’s heavy rains in the state, 676 roads have remained closed for 11 days. Due to this, bus services on more than 720 routes have been stalled for more than a week. The movement of people is being badly affected. Due to the closure of the connectivity routes of rural areas, it is also having a bad effect on apple transportation.

Similarly, 1,138 electric transformers are also lying closed. Due to which the night of hundreds of people is passing in darkness since a week.

4,808 crore property destroyed

Government and private property worth more than Rs 4,808 crore has been destroyed in the state due to heavy rains. 1,440 crore of Jal Shakti Department alone, Rs 1,521 crore of Public Works Department and Rs 1,451 crore of Electricity Board have been destroyed.

138 people lost their lives

During the current monsoon season, 138 people have lost their lives in the state. Of these, 38 people lost their lives due to landslides and flash floods. 12 people are still missing.
